The Real Power of an Adjustment
Have you ever wondered what an adjustment is actually doing? Maybe you’re new and you don’t fully understand it yet, or you have been coming to the office for years and need a little refresher. It’s far beyond the “crack” you may hear. To start, the crack is not actually the goal or intention of an adjustment, but rather a byproduct. You see the “crack” sound is simply gas being released in the joint. The goal with a precise adjustment is to restore proper communication between the nervous system and spine. In doing so, you won’t always get the audible, but you will still be getting the results.
Your spine acts as protection for your nervous system which is the communication highway for every function and every cell tissue and organ in your body. It’s safe to say the performance of your nervous system is crucial. For example, if its performance weakens through subluxations, you get things like weakened immune responses, headaches, poor sleep, the list goes on and on. This weakening happens due to nerve interference via 3 avenues: thoughts, traumas, and toxins. Things like emotional or mental stress, physical change, and chemicals (inflammation) affect the communication of nerve impulses to and from the body. like static on a phone line; the message may still go through, but not as clearly or efficiently.
To restore these miscommunications, we use the bones as levers to move the disc back to its proper position and restore that communication highway between the nerves and brain. This allows your nervous system to be able to adapt and regulate its functions how it was designed to.
